Academic Qualification

  • 1987 awarded a Ph.D. by the University of New South Wales, School of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering.
  • 1977 obtained a B. Sc. (Hons) from Birmingham University, U.K. in Metallurgy and Material Science.
  • 1989 attended a course in Ultrasonic Testing (level ll) at SIRIM
  • 1990 attended a course in Radiation Protection at Unit Tenaga Nuklear
  • 1990 attended a course in Welding Inspection and Quality Control at SIRIM.

Experience

  • Set up a Metallographic Laboratory in Selayang for failure investigation and consultancy work.
  • Set up and own a Destructive Mechanical Test Laboratory
  • Conduct Destructive Mechanical Tests since 1988 for a wide range of industries, The test codes includes ASME, AWS, ASTM, API, AS, BS, DIN, EN, JIS, MS, TRD. Charpy impact test at sub-zero temperature up to minus 196 degree Celsius. Through thickness tensile test of 19 mm thick plate and above, hot tensile test, corrosion test to ASTM standards and testing of full size bolts and nuts are some of the examples
  • Carried out Non Destrucive Test - red dye penetrant tests and magnetic particle inspection of test coupons plus In situ hardness measurement and thickness gauging
  • Developed Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) for the following projects:
    a) KLCC
    b) KLIA
    c) LRT Stations
    d) Toll Stations
    e) Pedestrian Bridges
    f) Building Structures
    g) Auxiliary Equipment for Isa Smelt Furnace
    h) Lead Smelter in Pulau Indah
  • Conducted Welding Procedure Qualification Tests.
  • Conducted Welder Qualification Test (WQT).

I have in the past ten (10) or more years advising contractors on welding procedures (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), Welder Qualification Test (WQT). I have either directly or indirectly (through contractors) involved in projects such as :
